Research and development at IDENA is the foundation of our nutritional concepts and additive innovations. The R&D team works closely with the company’s technical departments as well as with universities and research centres. Our team is dedicated to serving our customers and distributors.

Animal nutrition combined with R&D
Our in-depth knowledge of our fields enables us to be meticulous in our solutions. As raw materials are the basis of our products, our teams are experts in this field. Whatever the raw materials (maize, wheat, barley, soya meal, sorghum, rapeseed, etc.), they are constantly studied to optimise both technical and economic results.
Our strength also lies in our knowledge of the animals’ needs. Working in partnership with the technical and veterinary teams, the R&D team keeps abreast of all the latest developments in the needs of livestock on a daily basis. It therefore has in-depth knowledge of the needs of animals and their well-being.
Expertise in botanical active ingredients
The use of botanical ingredients is IDENA’s second key strength.
Having always been at the heart of our business, the use of plants in animal feed holds no secrets for our teams. And even less so for the R&D team.
We use standardised ingredients (pharmacopoeia). These are selected based on the challenges faced on farms and the objectives to be achieved.
This expertise has been acquired over the years through our numerous tests carried out in laboratories at research stations and with partners directly in the field.
But we’re more than just a manufacturer of botanical active ingredients: we’re experts at selecting phytogenic mixtures on the basis of their efficacy, without toxicity or effect on beneficial flora.
These ingredients are very often used in combination with formulation matrices to optimise feed costs. They are made more stable and effective thanks to processes developed in-house by IDENA.
Solid fundamental R&D
In order to develop new nutritional solutions, the R&D team is constantly on the lookout for new ingredients.
In-vitro tests help us to assess efficacy and potential toxicity in animals.
Our partnerships with various universities and research centres also provide us with solid proof of the effectiveness of our solutions.
Our trials in public and private experimental stations are a guarantee of the neutrality and objectivity of the results. More than 20 experimental stations have already processed protocols for IDENA.
Pilot farms are also part of our product development network. IDENA invests in these facilities to strengthen technical dossiers and provide proof of the effectiveness of our products under field conditions.
And every year, IDENA welcomes numerous students from engineering and veterinary schools to carry out specific projects. It’s a valuable, open-minded approach to the future developments of new products.
